GOLDEN APPLE CABIN PIE

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 2 and ¾ C All-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 and ½ Tbsp melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp water

For Filling

  • 240 g milk
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 360 g All-purpose flour
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 and ½ medium apple (thin slices)

Cinnamon (Optional)

Others

  • Size 8 pie pan or any circular low pan
  • 1 egg, for egg wash

Instructions

Dough Preparation 

  • Combine all the dough ingredients in a bowl. 
  • Knead for 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. 
  • Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes. 

Filling Preparation 

  • In a small pan, heat the milk until warm (do not boil). 
  • Turn off the heat, then stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. 
  • Add the flour and egg to the milk mixture and stir until smooth and well combined. 

Pie Assembly 

  • Divide the rested dough into two equal parts. 
  • Roll out the first half into a circle large enough to fit your pan, including the sides. 
  • Place this dough in the pan and prick holes evenly across the surface using a fork. 
  • Roll out the second half into another circle. Cut this into strips and set aside. 
  • Pour the filling mixture into the lined pan. 
  • Arrange apple slices evenly on top of the filling. 
  • Sprinkle cinnamon powder over the apples if desired. 
  • Cover the pie by weaving the dough strips over the top in an alternating pattern to create a decorative lattice design. 

Baking 

  • Preheat the Ninja Air Fryer Pro to 170°C. 
  • Bake the pie for 20 minutes. 
  • Brush the top with egg wash halfway through baking for a golden finish. 

Let the pie cool slightly before slicing.
